It won’t just be the world’s top professional cyclists taking to the streets of Glasgow next month when the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women finishes in the city for the first time on Sunday 8 June.
Everyone will also have the chance to ride the circuit themselves in the Lloyds Tour of Britain Family Cycling Festival, which takes place immediately after stage four of the professional race.
Once the successor to Lotte Kopecky as Lloyds Tour of Britain Women champion has been crowned on Glasgow Green, the streets will be handed over to the Lloyds Tour of Britain Family Cycling Festival, building on Glasgow’s cycling legacy and providing the opportunity for everyone to cycle on the same traffic free, closed road, route as the professionals, completely free of charge.
The Lloyds Tour of Britain Family Cycling Festival will run from 9am to 5pm on Glasgow Green on Sunday 8 June, with free events and activities throughout the day for people to enjoy. The 10-lap professional race will take place on the 8.4-kilometre circuit between 10am and 12.15pm, with each lap running through the event village on Glasgow Green, as well as big screens to follow all of the action.
From 1pm to 4pm, fans, families, and cyclists of all ages and abilities will be able to ride on the same circuit and enjoy a unique cycling experience in the heart of Glasgow.
In addition to the main route, a 2.4-kilometre route around Glasgow Green will also be available during the same window for those who prefer a shorter ride.
It will be an amazing chance not just to watch and be inspired by the world’s top female cyclists battling it out for victory in Britain’s biggest race, but to also enjoy getting on your bike and riding alongside family, friends, and thousands of other cyclists on the streets of Glasgow.
