British Cycling and Total Computers, a UK provider of information technology (IT) services and solutions, can today announce a new, four-year partnership which sees Total Computers become the national governing body’s Official IT Partner.

Central to this partnership will be a commitment from Total Computers to use technology to improve access to British Cycling’s education programmes – ranging from coaching courses, cycle training and ride leadership training - amongst underrepresented groups, through a new scholarship scheme.

Supplying information technology services and solutions to public and private sector organisations in the United Kingdom since 2003, Total Computers will be helping British Cycling implement, manage and support the technologies its people need to perform effectively.

British Cycling’s Head of Education, Simon Hibbert, said: “In an increasingly digital world, it is important that nobody gets left behind. We’re committed to working in partnership with organisations that will help us achieve our ambitions to make our education offer more inclusive, and we welcome the support Total Computers will offer to British Cycling on our journey.

“In addition to being immeasurably talented, scholarships can often play a part in achieving your goals. We have a number of extremely talented coaches working in the Great Britain Cycling Team and travelling to Tokyo in a few short weeks who are former scholars themselves – we know that this may not be everyone’s ambition but goes a long way to show that provided with accessible opportunities, people from all walks of life can thrive in our great sport.”

Aidan Groom, Total Computers Managing Director, added: ““We’re delighted to become the Official IT Partner of British Cycling and to help and support its elite gold-medal winning sporting programme, and its activities to increase the reach of cycling.

He continued, “The past year has shown the importance of maintaining good physical and mental wellbeing and cycling is a great way to be physically active, to spend time with friends or family, and get close to nature – all shown to be highly beneficial for our mental wellbeing. So it’s great to be embarking on a true partnership that will not only benefit British Cycling, but that can also benefit so many in the wider community and at Total.”
