Consistency proved the key for the North West squad as they led from the opening day to run out convincing team winners of the Inter-Regional Youth Track Championships in Glasgow.
North West led going into the second day despite failing to win any of the first five events, and they steadily extended their advantage over the remaining two sessions to finish 30 points clear of runners-up West Midlands with Wales a further seven points down in third.
Day three saw a national record for West Midlands pair Sophie Capewell and Lucy Shaw in the girls two-lap team sprint, clocking 36.61 in the qualifying round to beat the time of 36.651 set last year by East Midlands and then improving to 36.35 in the final against Wales.
Capewell also set a championship record of 12.43 seconds in the qualifying 200 metres time trial for the girls sprint, and there was a championship record for Grace Garner, of East Midlands, in the final of the girls 2,000 metres pursuit where she improved her own year-old mark by one-tenth of a second to 2-34.18.
