Location: Preston Park, Brighton, West Sussex
Event: 27 July 2013
Report: Snowdon Sports

A hardy band of riders ignored the forecasted threat of heavy rain and were rewarded with what was, for the most part, a glorious day by the seaside at Brighton’s Preston Park track until the meeting had to be abandoned when the rain eventually did come after all youth categories had completed three of their four omnium disciplines.

First-season junior Oliver Moors (Prestige VC), who is currently leading the SCRL Track League, set a blistering pace in the flying 200-metres qualifying round of the senior and junior sprint with a time of 12.15 seconds that has only been bettered twice in the league championships in the last six years.

The 16-year-old, from Haywards Heath, advanced to the final where, on a damp track, pupil gave teacher a quick lesson as he beat local BC Cycling talent Development Coach, John Scripps (VC de Londres).

Ashley Dennis (Team De Ver), 18, won both the pursuit and 20-km, 35-lap points race titles.

Prizes were presented under the protection offered by the stand with age-group titles going to Aidan Woolven (Sutton CC-De Ver Cycles), Preston Park Youth CC trio Noah Ridgway-Brown, Georgina Burnett and Frederick Newman, and Rose-Marie Moncrieffe (Team Performance Cycle Coaching).
