The evening started with the Freewheeler events consisting of Block and Sprint handicap races. Matty Lewis took the Freewheelers A Keirin (with older brother Adam the pace rider) while in the B Keirin brothers Joe and Adam Phillips took first and second places respectively. The Devil worked well with Freewheelers A with Matty Lewis first, Kieron Morris (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) second and Georgia Hilleard third. However there was far less urgency in the approach to the race by the B group but Kate Britton still managed a well deserved first place.
Jacob Kelly of Lichfield City CC is making some spirited challenges in the Senior B races but eventually took third place in the eight lap Scratch behind Will Rudgard in second place and Halesowen's Pete Hodgetts in first place. There followed various Sprint Heats before the respective Finals. In the Senior B Final Wheeler Tony Deleon took first place, followed by Steve Wilkinson (Welland Valley CC) and Jacob Kelly in third place. The Youth Sprint Final was won by William Hyde of Lichfield City CC with Charlotte Broughton (Leicestershire RC) second and Wheeler Jack Escrit third.
The Senior A Rankings are now starting to take shape and Halesowen rider Jack Hibberd who won the 2010 Track League is currently building a modest lead over George Moore (CC Giro) in second place. Points separating second, third, fourth and fifth are much closer with an exciting season in prospect with Wheeler Adam Lewis currently in third place, University of Birmingham rider Xavier Disley in fourth place and Team Nemesis rider Jess Wieckowski in fifth place. Wheeler Jason Colledge in sixth place overall is the leading Vet rider which he also won in the 2010 League. The photograph included here shows all the main contenders.
The 10 km Handicap produced much excitement with youth rider Jack Escrit taking first and Jacob Kelly taking second place in the 5 km Sprint but it was first and second for the University of Birmingham with Will Rudgard winning overall and Mark Brown second, third place going to Jack Hibberd.
