GB's Daniell Helps Launch Manchester Schools Track Championships
Fifteen Manchester secondary schools and academies started a schools' competition at the National Cycling Centre in East Manchester this week.
The competition will give over 300 young people from across Manchester the chance to develop their skills and ride on the same boards as Olympic Champions including Sir Chris Hoy.
Youngsters from across Manchester will compete against each other in a ‘Virtual Reality' competition which will finish in a grand finale at the track in summer in which schools and riders will go head to head.

David Daniell (pictured above) from the Great Britain cycling team met with young people from East Manchester Academy to launch the competition. David told the pupils how he was ‘spotted' at school whilst cycling in the playground on British Cycling's Go-Ride programme. David's many achievements include a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010 and a gold at the Manchester Track World Cup; showing that for Manchester's new young riders anything is possible.
The schools competing in the championships will be:

Levenshulme Girls School
