Rob Jefferies

27 May 2011

Rob as many will remember him, on the front at the Reading Bordeaux Paris Meeting May 1 2011

The tragic news of the death of Rob Jefferies, who was out cycling on the evening of 26 May when he was hit by a car and killed, has devastated the cycling community. Rob was an outstanding cyclist, in particular a Track Sprinter and Time Trial rider and his broader contribution to the sport was immense.

Rob leaves a wife Jane, daughter Eve and step-son George and our thoughts are with Rob's family and friends at this very sad time.

Rob was with us as an employee for over six years, firstly as Volunteer Support Officer and then as Officials Education Officer and we are working hard with our personal injury solicitors Leigh Day & Co to make sure that the police thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading up to Rob's death and ensure that his family are fully supported throughout the process.

Rob's funeral will take place at 10:00am on Friday 10th June at Poole Crematorium, followed by a gathering at Harmans Cross Village Hall from noon.

Many people have already paid tribute to Rob on our Facebook page and Poole Wheelers' Message Board.
