In the youth B categories, Finlay Burns and Alexandra Tan had brilliant days out in London, while Katie Lawson and Billy Ladle were dominant in Glasgow to lead the current standings.

Tommy Bass, Evie Cox and Oliver Stewart are leading in the youth C standings to round out exciting races in England and Scotland.

The second round will take place across the weekend of 27-28 April in Maindy (27th), Herne Hill (28th) and Caird Park (28th).

National B road races

The 62nd edition of the Eddie Soens Memorial Race saw Jack Hartley pinch the win for Cycling Sheffield ahead of Matt Bostock (RIBBLE REBELLION). An active bunch saw plenty of action throughout the race on Aintree Motor Racing Circuit, with attacks in the closing stages leading to an exciting finish. Bostock showed phenomenal speed in the final bunch sprint, but Hartley managed to outpower the Manx rider to the line, while John Bardsley (360cycling) came in third.

Jacob Vaughan (Private) took the win in the Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race after battling in challenging conditions. The attritional 11km course saw riders tackle 12 laps with plenty of attacks throughout the race. A brave solo attack from Vaughan in the final lap saw him clinch the win as the bunch were just metres behind as he crossed the line. Ben Marsh (PROJECT1) took the bunch sprint to claim second, showing off his speed that saw him win last year’s edition of the Junior CiCLE Classic Road Race, while Ollie Hucks (TAAP Kalas) finished third.

The first round of the Women’s National Road Series takes place this Sunday 17 March with the CiCLE Classic, with the Junior Open National Road Series also competing on the course in Melton Mowbray. Keep your eyes peeled for a preview to follow later this week.
