British Cycling is pleased to announce that the 2023 National Track Championships will once again be held in the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales in Newport, from Thursday 26 – Sunday 29 January.

The best British riders will go head-to-head for a chance to win the coveted red, white, and blue national champions’ jerseys, with amateurs rubbing shoulders with Olympic and Paralympic heroes in a bid for glory.

Last year’s event was the first to take place outside of Manchester since 1994, and saw the likes of Olympic silver medallist Jack Carlin, current world Hour Record holder Dan Bigham, and triple Commonwealth Games medallist Neah Evans take home national titles.

Welsh athletes in particular shone on their home track, with golds for the men’s team pursuit and women’s team sprint squads, as well as points race gold for Josh Tarling and an incredible display of speed and power from Rhian Edmunds in the sprint.

Double champion from the 2022 championships, Rhian Edmunds, said:

“I'm really excited to race at Newport again in the National Track Championships. Being from Newport and winning two national jerseys on my home track was really special last year - there is nothing like a Welsh crowd to drive you home and I cannot wait to try and retain my titles this year, alongside my Team Wales teammates.”
