Hugh Porter to start Halesowen 100

Four times world individual pursuit champion Hugh Porter will drop the flag to signal the start of the Halesowen 100 cycling sportive on Sunday August 24.

This 2014 sportive also marks the beginning of Sam Greatrex’s 18 month historic journey in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Sam will be using only human power by cycling 18,000 miles and rowing 14,000 miles as he attempts to break 11 world records during his adventure, for more details visit .

The sportive offers a fully signed 100km route commencing from the home of Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club and leading out through the Worcestershire countryside before turning back towards the Clent Hills and returning to the club house.

Refreshments will be available at the start and during the ride at the feed station situated in Hampton Lovett. After completing the route the riders can enjoy a fully licensed bar and music at the clubhouse, other services on offer include after ride massage, showers and changing facilities. To celebrate the cycling clubs first ever sportive, we will be offering a free photography service available to all entrants with photo points at the start, feed station and the summit of the Shutt Mill Lane climb. Photos will be made available several days after the event with details emailed to all entrants.

Prospective entrants can enter online using the British Cycling website or enter on the day, cost £30.00 cash only accepted. 

Each entrant will receive a Macmillan medal for completion of the course. Please note it is compulsory for all entrants to wear a cycling helmet – no helmet, no ride. Riders under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and have completed a parental consent form.
