Event: 6 October 2013
Location: Loughborough University, Leicestershire

The Tour of the National Forest Sportive in May was a sell-out event, which changed many people’s views of the East Midlands. Organisers are delighted to announce that a second autumnal event is now on the calendar and open for entries. Event organiser Ryan MacLachlan takes over the story...

The feedback from our last event was incredible with a large number of participants asking the organiser to put on another sportive as they felt it offered incredible value to money for all participants.

Here is what a few people thought of our last sportive:-

“A very enjoyable day, really well organised. Feed stations were excellent and the facilities at the uni were ideal. So nice to be able to have pleasant changing facilities and get a hot shower after the ride. The staff throughout the day were efficient and encouraging. Definitely be back next year. Thanks.” Brian Martin

“Probably the most well thought out Sportive I've done in the U.K. Right down to rider emergency contact details on the back of the number.” Ray Martlock

“A superb event-well organised, friendly and challenging. never knew there were so many hills around this way or that it was so pretty. Lovely people on the feed stations and great food! Clear signposting and it was great to have been able to download the route beforehand. Possibly my favourite ever sportive. Well done to all concerned.” Peter Hillier

“I thought the event was fantastic. It exceeded all my expectations. Everybody involved in organising it had a big smile on their face and were above and beyond helpful. They were; the people who handed out the race packs, the lady who found me a spare plastic tie for my race number before the start, the race starters, the folk who were manning the feed stations, the people at the finish line, the very very nice people who gave me my finishers bag, the nice lady serving lasagne, the masseurs, the car-park attendants. All extremely happy, helpful, and encouraging. I loved it.” Jack Beavis

With this sportive we aim to challenge again those of you who completed the sportive in May and entice any new participants to discover the particularly tough gradients around Loughborough ensuring you leave full of praise of the challenging route which winds its way up and down through the picturesque country lanes and criss-cross through the National Forest area.

With three rides of varying length (160, 100 and 65 km) available, riders of all abilities will find something to suit them. The routes will be fully signposted and to ensure that there are no problems a detailed route map will be provided to all participants. In addition to ensuring you safely make it round the route there will be a number of feed stations along each route, as well as free mechanical support provided by Cycle Craft, if you are unlucky enough to need it. All finishers will receive a goody bag, which includes a free t-shirt as well as post ride meal in the brand new Loughborough University Stadium.
