Location: Penshurst Place, Tonbridge, Kent
Event: 7 October 2012

(online entry closes 4 October) |

A fundraising event organised by Kent Foundation. The ride will whizz around the lanes visiting four of the oldest and most historic buildings in this ancient part of the county.

The ride starts out from beautiful Penshurst Place and on route you will encounter the spectacular locations of Ightham Mote, Knole Park and Hever Castle.

This is a charity bike ride with a difference.  Catering for the serious cyclist, the club rider, fun riders and families of all ages (sorry - only children of 12 and above).

We are hoping for a ‘street party’ atmosphere with medieval musicians in the castle grounds and as many riders as possible entering into the spirit with medieval fancy dress - Robin Hoods, Queen Guinevere, Knights of the Round Table, perhaps the odd Henry VIII.

There are two routes to choose from the 15 mile Jousting Ride (mainly for families) and the 44 mile Monarchy Ride. Lady De L’Isle of Penshurst Place will wave the flag, giving the starting signal, for the West Kent Heritage Ride around five castles of Kent.

All money raised will go towards the work of Kent Foundation and supporting young entrepreneurs of Kent.

Online entry is open until 4 October – you can enter online on the event page on the British Cycling site.
