Event: 22 September 2013
Location: Castle Combe, Wiltshire

With two rides to choose from, the 100 miles 'epic' or 100km 'challenge', the Wiltshire Falling Leaves Sportive offers riders a chance to head toward the end of the season in some stunning scenery, on quiet lanes passing some fantastic landmarks and with a few tests to challenge their fitness.

Above: The stunning Lacock Abbey, just one of the picturesque highlights on the route.

Both routes start with the climb of Bowden Hill after 10 miles with the longer epic then heading into south Gloucestershire with two further climbs while the challenge plies Wiltshire’s glorious autumn lanes.

Notable landmarks include Lacock, famed its National Trust abbey used in numerous Hollywood films. Westonbirt Arboretum offers a stunning sight of autumnal leaves and colours while Badminton House is famed for the annual horse trials. The ride's 'home' of Castle Combe is simply a stunning example of a quintessential British ‘chocolate box’ village complete with babbling brook!

The ride offers:

  • Well stocked feed stations on route
  • Medical cover provided on course for all riders
  • Catering, parking and toilets available at HQ
  • Free gear and brake check prior to the start at HQ
  • Limited mechanical support to get you going again on route if feasible.
  • A ‘broom wagon’ will ensure if riders suffer a non-repairable mechanical they get back safely to HQ
