NO FUSS SEARCH FOR BRITAIN'S KING OF THE MOUNTAIN(bike)S

No Fuss Events Lay down the gauntlet to find the ultimate All-Round Endurance Mountain Biking Warrior

Fort William's No Fuss Events, along with three of their principal event sponsors - Orange Mountain Bikes, Hope and Benromach Single Malt Whisky - have today (Thursday 1 July) laid down the gauntlet to Great Britain's mountain biking community to find the ultimate mountain biking endurance all-rounder - The King Of The Mountains.

To be in with a chance of being crowned the first ever King of the Mountains riders must take part in three challenging but fun open mountain bike events in the 2010 No Fuss stable - The Benromach 10 at Kirroughtree (10 July), The Hope Endurance Downhill (24 July), and the new Orange Tour De Ben Nevis (11 September), a no frills, 61km point-to-point mountain bike stage race that circumnavigates Ben Nevis.

These brave warriors, riding each race as a solo or in pairs, will not only have to cope with energy sapping and heart pumping endurance, they will also need lighting quick reflexes, superb bike control in all conditions, nerves of steel whilst negotiating some of Scotland's remotest trails and an unerring eye for the right line if they are to pick up the ultimate prize.

Frazer Coupland from No Fuss Events, said: 'The new King of the Mountains series is really appealing to us as it is aimed at the real warriors of the sport. The fact that Benromach, who have been headline sponsor for the Three Tens for three years and have truly aligned themselves with mountain biking, Hope and Orange, all British companies, have got behind the series gives us the confidence to announce this as the UK's Official (unofficial, No Fuss wouldn't have it any other way) British all round mountain bike challenge.

Who will be the 2010 King of the Mountains?

Micheal Bonney from Orange Mountain Bikes explained the concept behind the series to find the UK's top all round mountain biker:

'The guys in the Orange factory ride hard, but none of them are going to win a cross country or downhill race - they're just good mountain bikers. So the King Of The Mountains series is for people like us, people who want something different. Anyone can compete to be the best all-round mountain biker. You don't have to be a cross country machine or downhill nutter. And if you're just up for a challenge, this is the hardest series the UK has to offer and you get to ride some of the best UK trails.'

Entries to the ultimate all round challenge are open to solo riders or pairs. To have a chance of winning the crown riders must enter 10 at Kirroughtree, The Endurance Downhill and the Tour of Ben Nevis through the No Fuss Website. Entry fees are £145 for a solo and £245 for a pair. Points will be awarded at each event and the highest points will be the winner. Though this is an unofficial 'official' competition -No Fuss like to keep it that way - fantastic prizes, to be announced soon, will be awarded to the King of the Mountains.

David Urquhart, Joint Managing Director of Gordon & MacPhail, owners of Benromach Distillery, said: 'The Three Tens are excellent, thrilling events that we're proud to put the Benromach name to. We wish all the competitors good luck in this tough new challenge, and look forward to watching what we're sure will be an exciting battle for the title of the UK's all round mountain biking champion.'

Neil Arnold, Marketing Manager form Hope, said: 'This is a great concept, and really is an all round test for any mountain biker, not just hardcore cross country or downhill riders - you need to be able to do most things well to be in with a shout!'
