The team at Welsh Cycling are pleased to announce that Litelok, the innovative Swansea-based bike security firm, has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with us and as part of this deal, Litelok has become the official security partner of Welsh Cycling.

After initial involvement with Welsh Cycling at the 2018 Awards Dinner when Litelok presented the first Welshman to win the Tour de France, Geraint Thomas, with the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ Award, the partnership has continued to grow and develop. For the next three years, including the 2019 Awards Dinner which will take place on 12th October, Litelok will be the official headline sponsors, and also sponsor of the Club Volunteer of the Year award.

As part of this deal, Litelok will be in attendance at various Welsh Cycling competitions and events along the length and breadth of Wales. This will give our members and indeed the public, the opportunity to see the excellent range of Litelok locks in the flesh and see them working in real life situations.

Welsh Cycling were keen to link up with Litelok not only because they are a highly regarded cycling-orientated business, but also due to their commitment to working in Wales – enhancing employment within the country. Founder and CEO Neil Barron, who lives locally to the business, was keen to utilise his expertise to generate a product that would benefit cyclists, whilst creating local business and employment opportunities.

The company is also passionate about promoting cycling in Wales. As part of this three-year deal, Litelok have provided Welsh Cycling with an affiliate link which will mean that 20 percent of the value of sales of locks to Welsh Cycling members will be directly utilised to benefit grassroots cycling in Wales. A vital component to the success of the sport across the nation.

This rebate will help enable Welsh Cycling to continue providing as many opportunities as possible to enhance cycling in Wales at every level – from getting on a bike for fun, to supporting home-grown talent to competing at the highest level.

Litelok produce locks which are extremely light, but also highly flexible and extremely secure. They have a range of bike locks on offer which have all been tested and rated to Sold Secure standards. Sold Secure are an independent body run by the Master Locksmith Association.

Beginning with the Litelok Gold Original – awarded “Best Buy” by The Independent – which has been heralded as the world’s lightest, and most flexible Sold Secure Gold bike lock, weighing just 1.1kg, Litelok also produce the Twin Litelok Gold Original and the Litelok Gold Wearable.

While all of these products are renowned for their flexibility and being light in weight in comparison to other bicycle locks on the market, the Litelok Gold Wearable – winner of the Red Dot Design Award 2018 – is also designed to be safely worn around your hips while cycling. Creating an easy way to carry the device, it is especially ideal for urban commuters.

Litelok also manufacture the world’s lightest Sold Secure Silver rated bike lock range: the Litelok Silver and the Twin Litelok Silver. Available in three sizes and starting from only 630g, these locks are also flexible, easy to carry and wearable, and are suitable for all ages and cyclists. If customers were to buy the twin format locks, they’ll notice they can be unlocked using the same set of keys if desired and also joined together for double the length, used together for double security or by two different riders.

Due to their flexibility, these innovative locks can easily fit around an array of objects – making the experience of locking up your bike far easier than with solid inflexible locks.

Together, Litelok and Welsh Cycling hope to enhance cycling in Wales for the next few years, and for generations to come.
