Dirt Crit champions crowned during series finale at the Royal Welsh Showground on Saturday 16th September, hosted by Bulls Cycling Club.

Under 8s through to under 16s from clubs all across Wales came together this Saturday 16 September to take part in the Dirt Crits series final, where champions were crowned within each category.

The day began with an hour coaching, before riders were invited to put their newly found mountain bike cross country skills to the test with a skills base test and dirt crit race.

The series finale follows three coached sessions which took place during the summer with support from Welsh Cycling clubs including Filthy Cycling, Abergavenny RC, Clwb Beicio Mynydd Dyffryn Conwy, Dreigiau Coed Y Brenin Dragons and the Bike Doctor.

The series aims to give riders the skills to carry forward to the Welsh Cycling Mountain Bike Cross Country Series and step up to the HSBC UK National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series.

Anthony O’Boyle, Assistant Coach at Welsh Cycling said: “The series has been a way to develop our youth riders to become more skillful mountain bikers and introduce them to a new style of racing.

It was brilliant to see how far some of the riders have come since the first session, and to welcome new faces too".

"Congratulations to all the dirt crit champions and to all riders who participated in the challenging dirt crit route, which was not easy by all means.

"We'd like to thank all riders, clubs and volunteers who helped make the series happen and we can't wait to bring the Dirt Crits back next year as part of the Welsh xc series".
