Name: Sean Davey
Age:
51
From:
Newport, South Wales

What kind of riding do you do?
Sportives, triathlon, time trials, cyclo-cross and mountain biking.

What do you enjoy most about cycling?
The freedom and efficiency of a bicycle – being able to cover over 100 miles in a day under your own steam – phenomenal. And of course the health benefits, camaraderie with your club mates and enjoyment of the countryside.

What’s your favourite ride?
From my home in Caerleon, up The Tumble near Abergavenny, on to Hay one Wye and return over The Gospel Pass, the highest mountain road pass in Wales.

What’s your top cycling tip to share?
Always buy the best bike you can afford irrespective of your experience or ability. It’s not just about performance it’s about enjoying the experience and ultimately it’ll save you money.

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with?
Baroness Tanni Grey Thompson. Obviously I wouldn’t expect her to do any pedalling on a conventional tandem but she’s a disabled athlete who has inspired me as much as any other athlete so I’d be fascinated to chat and hear the inside story of her experiences.

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with?
With my mate Flavia, because she's super fit, strong and tough, and has been a great inspiration to me, as well as waiting patiently for me on steep climbs!

Don’t forget to send us a selfie of you and your bike. Remember, without a photo we can’t share your profile in a future edition of Member News!
