British Cycling chief executive Ian Drake is all set to ride the Brompton World Championships this weekend at Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, which makes him a worthy winner for this week's member profile.

When Ian isn't racing around on 16-inch wheels he enjoys dragging a knobbly-tyred road bike up hills in Yorkshire. Or something like that.

What kind of riding do you do?

Road, mountain biking, commuting and competing regularly in the Notts and Derby Cyclo-cross League.

What do you enjoy most about cycling?

I still love competing in cyclo-cross but also it’s the social side for me – particularly helping new people get started and getting them to a point where they can take part in their first long ride, challenge or event.

What’s your favourite ride?

It has to be the Three Peaks Cyclo-cross Race – I’ve completed it 10 times and I’m looking forward to my 11th this year with the aspiration to complete it 25 times!

What’s your top cycling tip to share? Just enjoy it – no matter how, with whom, or where you are riding. There is no better place to be than on a bike.

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with? Has to be the wife!!
