As part of Project 2018, Welsh Cycling will be taking youth teams to several events this year.

The first two events will be the Isle of Man Youth Tour and the North West Youth Tour. The selection criteria for these two events can be found below.

Isle of Man Youth Tour
3-5 May 2013

A Youth A Male and a Youth A Female team of four riders will be selected to compete at this event.

Selections will be based on performances at the first two rounds of the Project 2018 Road series. These are namely the April Fool at Easter (1 April) and the Marsh Tracks Spring Criterium (14 April). Factors such as bike handling skills, tactical awareness, attacking riding and finish position will be taken into consideration.

Attitude and aptitude at the Project 2018 Road RSR 1 being held at Llandow Motor Racing Circuit on Tuesday 2 April will also be considered.

North West Youth Tour
25-27 May 2013

A Youth A Male and a Youth A Female team of four riders will be selected to compete at this event.

As a result of the selection criteria utilised by the race organiser, the boys’ team will be selected based on the national road rankings for Youth A boys. The top four ranked Welsh riders will be selected to compete as the Project 2018 team.

The selections for the youth A girls’ team will be based on performances at Project 2018 Road Series and National Circuit Series events. Factors such as bike handling skills, tactical awareness, attacking riding and finish position will be taken into consideration.

Attitude and aptitude at Project 2018 training events will also be considered.
