With Glasgow 2014 now less than 500 days away, Welsh Cycling are pleased to announce the athlete selection policy for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The selection policy provides criteria that must be met by individuals in order for Welsh Cycling to nominate them to the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales who make the final decision on selection.

Becky James won two medals for Wales in Delhi 2010

The aim of the selection policy is to select a team of athletes who are capable of competing with distinction at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Welsh Cycling Performance Director, Matt Cosgrove said:

“The selection policy will allow Welsh Cycling and the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales to select the best possible team to compete across road, track and mountain bike disciplines, representing Wales in Glasgow 2014. Through this selection process and the programme of support provided by the Welsh Cycling performance team, it is hoped we can give Wales the greatest chance of success in in 2014.”

The qualifying period for cycling will end on 15 May 2014. If you wish to be considered for selection, please send a summary of your results over the last 12 months as well as a statement outlining why you should be considered for selection to Team Wales to Matt Cosgrove matt.cosgrove@welshcycling.co.uk by 4pm on Monday 30 September 2013.
