Becky James rode to victory in the Women's Sprint final at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, to claim her first senior track cycling world title.
James, who hails from Abergavenny, took her German competitor Voegl to a third race decider. A photo finish in Race 1 went to Voegl, James bounced back in Race 2 to confidentally take the win, leaving it 1-1 after two races. In the title decider, James held on in the sprint and claimed her first senior world title.
After the race, Becky James told Jill Douglas on the BBC, "I am world champion and I can't believe it. I really wanted to win this!"
Earlier in the competition, James paired with Victoria Williamson, won bronze in the Team Sprint and her second bronze came in the Women's 500m TT. James will be back on track Sunday in the Women's Keirin where a fourth medal will be on offer to the young Welsh rider.
