Minimum Operating Standards - Coaches and MTB/Ride Leaders

Active Coaches and MTB/Ride Leaders

  • Up-to-date CWPS Training

    • All Active Coaches, MTB Leaders, Ride Leaders and Activity Helpers working with Under 18s must complete Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport training every three years
    • You can find out when the latest courses are being run here
  • To evidence compliance with this standard, records of your Coaches and MTB/Ride Leaders must be up-to-date with our Wellbeing and Protection Team. Certificates should be sent to WPO@scottishcycling.org.uk
  • Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Certificate

    • This must be registered with Scottish Cycling for all Active Coaches, MTB Leaders, Ride Leaders and Activity Helpers if they are performing Regulated Work with U18s.

  • To evidence compliance with this standard, you must keep the list of your Coaches and MTB/Ride Leaders, and this will be cross-referenced to the records held by our Wellbeing and Protection Team.
  • First Aid Training

    • To validate the insurance of your qualification, you must have an adequate and up-to-date First Aid Qualification
    • For Coaches and Ride Leaders this is minimum 6 hours
    • For MTB Leaders this is minimum 12 hours
  • To evidence compliance with this standard, you must keep the list of your Coaches and MTB/Ride Leaders, and this will be cross-referenced to the records held by our Coaching and Education team. First Aid certificates can be sent to them via email CoachEducation@scottishcycling.org.uk

Codes of Conduct

  • Coaches/Volunteers
    • Your club must have codes of conduct with all the above groups (where applicable).
    • These should be signed as soon as they become associated with your club
    • You can download templates for your Coaches/Volunteers here
  • To evidence compliance with this standard, you confirm that your club has Codes of Conduct in place.
