Report: Snowdon Sports

Lawrence Carpenter (Catford Equipe Banks) was first home in race eight of the Imperial Winter Series at Hillingdon.

The 20-year-old took a large lead in the final couple of laps and led from Graham Crow and Henry Norris by around half a minute, with the rest of the field trailing behind.

Speaking after the race, Lawrence said: “Halfway through the race there was a move away and it looked dangerous so I got across to it.

“From there the three of us got away and we worked well. We almost got caught but we managed to pull away again.

“With five to go, I attacked and my lead stuck. It’s my first win in two-and-half years so hopefully there’s more to come. Training is going well and next week I’ll be away at team training weekend in Kent.”

Henry Furniss of Wyndy Milla won the third category race and it was a day to remember for fourth category rider Robin Mould (Velosport RT) who scored ten points with his win and moved up to category three.
