Claiming his first win of the season, Toby Parnell (Cambridge CC) sprinted home at the head of an 18-strong group to win Fenland Clarion CC’s 67-mile road race in Cambridgeshire.

Ten riders went clear early on the first of the six laps in windy conditions, and they stayed off the front until joined by a group of eight chasers who had taken off in pursuit with two laps to go.

Parnell, 26, proved strongest in the charge for the line to win from Kings Lynn veteran Martin Ruepp (Iceni Velo), aiming to follow up his victory in last month’s Diss CC road race, and Antony Richardson (RAF CC).
