Triathlete Aaron Harris sharpened his cycling skills with victory in the fifth round of the Northants CRA handicap series at Rockingham Raceway motor racing circuit.

Britain’s World Class Podium Potential Squad helped boost numbers to a record level and after an hour of racing, 25-year-old Harris, from Bideford in Hampshire, took the verdict in a three-up sprint ahead of Mark Bleakley (Peterborough CC) and Joel Lewis (Arbis-Colbert Cycles RT) who both earned enough licence points to move up from third to second category.

The leading trio started in the middle group of third categories, who closed a gap of one and a half minutes to the fourth categories a third of the way through the race.

The scratch group had a further three minutes to make up, and by the time they got on terms with the bunch with 15 minutes to go, the three breakaways had already flown and opened a gap which was 20 seconds at the line where Stephen Colbert (Arbis-Colbert cycles RT) took the sprint for fourth.
