Winner of the opening race, Christophe Demoulin secured a second victory at the forefront of a dominant performance by Peterborough CC in the third round of the Northants CRA Spring Handicap Series.

Demoulin sprinted clear at the head of a seven-strong group containing four of his clubmates after three laps of a 9.4-mile circuit based on Old, near Kettering, on a dry but damp afternoon when the scratch riders failed to close a seven-minute gap.

The winner reached the front of the race two miles into the final lap, and the seven who fought out the finish broke away as the pace lifted turning on to the long Harrington airfield stretch.

Demoulin crossed the line ahead of John Ellis (Welland Valley CC) and Mark Breakley (Peterborough CC), with Dave Robinson of host club Kettering CC taking the sprint for eighth place, contested by 15 riders, half a minute later and the scratch pairing of Ryan Henry (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) and Joe Clarke (Fenland Clarion CC) next over the line the same distance back.
