Scratchman Ryan Henry (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) came through the field to win round two of the Northants CRA handicap series over three laps of the 10-mile Valley circuit around the borders of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

The 58 starters were covered by eight and a half minutes at the start of the race, organised by VC Rutland, with the first three groups on the road coming together towards the end of the second lap as the rest of the race closed up behind them.

Henry and Stephen Colbert (Arbis-Colbert Cycles RT) jumped clear from the chasers over the top of the Bringhurst climb early on the third lap and powered their way up to the leading group with around four miles to go, leaving 27 riders to contest the finish – Oakham-based Henry, 33, leading the charge ahead of Oliver Taylor (Welland Valley CC) and Colbert with Annabel Fisher (Peterborough CC) first woman for the second week running in sixth place.
