Robert Watkinson wins Rother Valley Optics Autumn Road Race

Doncaster Wheelers’ Robert Watkinson took sprint victory in the RVO Autumn Road Race, getting the better of nine breakaway companions on a windswept course.

The race was run on a beautiful day but very windy and the conditions contributed to the field being split apart on the first lap as 15 riders broke free from the main bunch.

Over the next six laps, five riders fell off the back of the leading group. The remaining 10 riders stayed together through the remainder of the 16 lap race. The sprint finish was won by Robert Watkinson (Doncaster Wheelers) with Connor Swift (Bike Box) and Simon Maudsley (RVO Racing) a close second and third respectively.
