Chelmer CC rider Daniel Babbs took a solo victory in the fourth round of the Ford CC Summer Series at Dunton Test Track in Basildon on Thursday.

The 36-year-old from Chelmsford attacked alone with three laps of the 1.6-mile track remaining, and rode powerfully into a strong headwind to cross the line around 40 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

API Metrow veteran Mick Bath, the 52-year-old from Great Leigh in Essex, took second spot ahead of Babbs’ team-mate at Chelmer CC, Matt Haworth.

Babbs' victory was his third of the series so far following wins in rounds one and two earlier in the season.
