Great Britain Podium Programme rider Wendy Houvenaghel claimed victory in the UCI Celtic Chrono in Belfast.

The Celtic Chrono pre-Olympic elite women time trial saw competitors from all over the globe competing across approximately 22 miles for Olympic points. The race began within the grounds of Stormont Estate and travelled towards Newtownards, Bangor, Hollywood and Tillysburn and crossed the finish line back at the Prince of Wales Avenue.

After winning on home soil in a time of 48.35, 37-year-old Houvenagel said: “It has been a real honour to compete here today and the support has been fantastic. As I focus on qualifying for the Games it is good to be able to come home and compete on home turf, especially as I have come away with a win.”
