1st Chard Wheelers, CS Dynamo and Revo Racing, three of the South West region’s most active Go-Ride clubs are combining to run a pioneering series of Go-Race events at Mansell’s Kart Circuit at Dunkeswell, near Honiton on Monday evenings through May, June and July 2012.

Supported by Andy Parker, British Cycling South West Regional Events Officer; the East Devon Circuit Race Series is aimed at riders who want to try their hand at racing for the first time. The races are open to all categories of riders with racing for all youth age groups. These will be followed by events for women, juniors, 4th category men and those without a race licence.

Those who want to ride do not have to have a race licence or be members of British Cycling or even a club in order to compete. The emphasis of the whole series is to make it easy for people to try racing in a friendly grass-roots environment. Just bring yourself, a bike and a helmet.

Mansell’s Kart Circuit has a great surface combining sweeping bends with a couple of decent straights including the finish. The first races held on the circuit last year were well received and enjoyed by everyone who rode there.

The facilities also include changing rooms and toilets.

The first evening of racing begins on 21 May starting at 7.00pm for youth riders and finishing with the 4th category race at 8.35pm. The series continues on 11 & 18 June followed by 2 & 9 July. Riders will be able to score points for an overall classification and ranking for the full series.

The series will conclude with an additional evening of open races on 16 July for the same categories of riders.

Mansell’s Kart Circuit is at Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Dunkeswell, East Devon EX14 4LT; just off the A30 near Honiton.
