Yorkshire’s James Gullen secured a lone victory for the Metaltek-Scott team in the fourth round of the CDNW League at Capernwray in Lancashire on Sunday.

The 22-year-old student from Kippax in Leeds crossed the line around 20 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, 34-year-old Ben Dean, the 34-year-old Team Bglobal rider from Salmesbury in Lancashire.

While the weather for the morning event was perfect for racing – cool and sunny – the finish climb certainly separated the men from the boys, with Gullen proving best up the climb.

Third spot in the 120-kilometre elite race went to Team Raleigh’s 18-year-old Wigan-based rider Matthew Holmes.

And in the supporting 45-mile race, Andy Leigh (Velocity RT) took the win by just three seconds from Ryan Pike (High on Bikes RT) in a close finish.
