Metaltek-Scott rider Matt Gee held off two Cycle Premier rivals to win the Shrewsbury Sports Village Circuit Races at the Shropshire venue on Saturday.

The 21-year-old from Lichfield won a bunch sprint finish to top the podium, while Cycle Premier rivals Richard Hepworth and William Penn finished second and third respectively.

A crash early on in the race in the finish straight caused the circuit to be shortened while an ambulance attended, and when it was brought back into full use there was 10 kilometres remaining.

Despite the best efforts of Cycle Premier pairing Russell Falder and George Moore who both had digs off the front, it was a bunch gallop with Gee taking the win, while local boy turned Rapha Condor Sharp pro Luke Grivell-Mellor gave home crowd excitement with sixth.

In the Youth races Joe Holt, Bynea CC won the under-16s, with Shropshire lads Tomos Owens and Ewan Grivell-Mellor making it a home circuit one-two in the under14s.
