Good teamwork helped Eagle Road Club's Bryan Crump win the Bicknacre Road Race, staged at East Hanningfield in Essex by London Phoenix CC on Sunday.

The 33-year-old from Hackney powered to the win ahead of his nine breakaway rivals after team-mate James Sale had helped give him the best possible chance of victory.

Leading into the final turn of an S-bend just before the finish, Crump held his advantage and crossed the line a few bike lengths ahead of runner-up Lee Desborough (St Ives CC) at the end of the 57-mile race.

Eagle Road Club won the first of two primes on lap three courtesy of Damian Foy, and they won the second prime through James Sale.

But after the final prime they carried on their efforts, and helped establish a ten-strong leading group which went on to lead by around a minute and a half on the line.

1 Bryan Crump (Eagle RC) 2:15:00
