Report: Dot Tilbury

The seventeenth round of Team Royal London 360 Isle of Man's youth league was held at the NSC in bright sunshine and virtually windless conditions. A total of 266 competitors took part in the eleven race programme.

Alexander Galloway went from the gun in the novices class, taking the chequered flag well clear of the rest of the field. Joseph Corlett outsprinted Lisa Martin, Kate Morris and Jemma Quayle for the runners-up spot, with Rubi Skillen beating Sydney Patterson, Ashton Quilliam and Eddy Dillon in the battle for sixth. Maria Moore led James Gale and Alec Sorby home to round off the top ten.

Ivan Sorby edged out Cian Jackson to record his maiden win in the born 2006 & later age group. David Sargent was a safe third and Alfie Swales held off pursuers Harry Callin, Libbie Thompson and Ryan Edwards to grab fourth. Holly Palmer pipped Lucy Barnett, Orry Purcell and Samuel Cowin for eighth, while Sophie Smith and Corbin Stewart escaped from the main bunch to secure twelfth and thirteenth places respectively.

In the born 2005 race Harry Kneen rode away from a leading group of seven riders to score a comfortable solo victory. Mairi Harrison eased ahead of Chloe Dillon, Nathan Cannell, Jacob O'Boyle,Teddy Dunn and James Scott for second, with Oliver Sykes taking a fine eighth on his 2011 debut. Bradley Kneen was a lonely ninth and Chloe Comaish stayed clear of the fast finishing Charlie Cowin to claim tenth.

A delighted Cameron Dudley got the better of fellow frontrunners Ralf Holden and Oliver Harrison to pick up his first win in the born 2004 event. Joshua Dudley dropped James Devereau and Billy Kennedy on the final lap for a solid fourth and Joshua Clough did well to outgun Toby Craig, Cian Gell, Ross Quayle and Callum Crellin in the dash for seventh. Kiera Prentice was the leading girl in twelfth spot.

In the born 2003 category Percy Hampton had the edge on Jake Wilson in the final sprint for the line, with Jonty Bregazzi getting the verdict over Matthew Black, Zac Walker, Thomas Skillicorn, Jack Christian and Ryan Quirk in the gallop for the final podium position. Ramsey's Tyler Hannay was ninth a short distance ahead of Jamie Gelling and top girl Darcy Cain.

Will Corkill got an early gap in the born 2002 class and steadily increased it all the way to the finish, notching up his sixth success of the season. James Harrison made a determined chase but in the end was happy to settle for a well earned second ahead of the fast closing trio of Corrin Leeming, Nicholas Kissack and Blae Cain. The ever consistent Louis Dean had the upper hand on Nathanael Tyson, Joshua Mills and Shellan Leeming in the tussle for sixth, while relative newcomer Deacon Lombard-Chibnall did well to finish tenth in only his second outing at the NSC.

Returning from a two week break, Max Walker overcame Adam Scarffe to take the honours in the born 2001 three lapper and Matthew Draper beat Lucas Mudie and Sam Mills to bag maximum points again in the born 2000 & earlier grouping. Emma Draper and Tara Ferguson were the leading girls in each class.

A nine-strong group of riders contested the finish of the under 10 racing bikes, but no one could match the speed of winner Tosh Teare in the final sprint. Max Walker was second followed by Adam Scarffe, Aaron Lund, Tyler Cain and Conor Gelling, who completed the top six leader board. Emma Draper, Emily Bridson and Chloe Crellin were the leading girls in tenth, twelfth and fourteenth places.

In the under 12 racing bikes eight year old Charlie Gibson, who was riding up a class, produced one of the rides of the night to finish second behind winner William Draper in the bunch gallop for the line. The hard working Conor Davies was a close third and Eleanor Davies the top girl in fourth place. Jamie Dudley outsprinted Matthew Davies and Leon Mazzone for his sixth win in the under 16 racing bikes. Nathan Draper was the first U14 rider home in fourth place and Elizabeth Holden the best girl in tenth position.
