Strong Betts win London Dynamo Road Race

Staplefield, West Sussex, 78 miles
Event: 10th July 2011
Report: Snowdon Sports

AFTER being part of virtually every major move in the race, Andy Betts (La Fuga-Sigma Sport) proved a worthy winner of the London Dynamo Road Race in West Sussex on Sunday.

The 34-year-old from Surbiton won a four-up sprint for the line at the end of the 78-mile race, run off on six laps of the 13-mile Staplefield circuit.

Betts was part of an early four man break which gained good ground, but swelled to around 20 as the race progressed as more riders jumped across from the bunch.

Over the last few laps the attacks started coming as riders looked to avoid a big sprint finish, and with the pace high the group fragmented.

As they headed for the uphill finish, which greeted the riders with light showers, it was Betts who powered clear by around four bike lengths, while Ben Luckwell (Wilier-Go Self Drive) took second, holding off Cycle Kingdom's Allan Ridler who was third.

1 Andy Betts (La Fuga-Sigma Sport) 3-15-00
