Event Details

The sixth and final race of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Summer Series was dominated by Welland Valley CC.

Jon Unwin and Hans Van Nierop pulled clear of their group on the third and final lap of the 10 mile Middleton circuit. Unwin was the winner with Van Nierop second but credited with the same time of 1.16.37.

At 12 seconds were respectively Stuart Alexander of Welland Valley, Paul Simpson of ArbisLLB/Roy Pink Cycles, Sam Crabtree of Welland Valley, Steve Kay of Fenland Clarion CC, Michael Salter of Rockingham Forest Wheelers, John Hardwick of Kettering CC, Chris Begley of Welland Valley with Nigel Burns of St Ives in 10th place.

The overall series winner was Leighton Davies of Nottingham Clarion CC, with Jonathon Unwin of Welland Valley in second place and Gary Wallis of VC Rutland in third.

Welland Valley's Jonathon Unwin, Stuart Alexander and Sam Crabtree won the team prize for the series.
First junior over the series was Chris Palfreeman of 45 Road Club. The winning rider over both the Spring and Summer Series was Dave Palmer of Renault-Rotor-Colbert RT.
