Summer Wine Win for Bottomley

Hade Edge Circuit, near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire
Promoted by: Holme Valley Wheelers
Event: 2nd July 2011
Report: Snowdon Sports

CROSSTRAX rider Stephen Bottomley took victory in the Last of the Summer Wine Road Race in West Yorkshire, promoted by Holme Valley Wheelers on the tough Hade Edge circuit near Holmfirth.

Bottomley edged ahead of his rivals in a bunch sprint finish to the race, which largely stayed together despite several attempts to break clear which never really got far.

As the race headed to the top of the last climb of Flight Hill, Pudsey-based Bottomley made his move and gained vital inches over his rivals which he held to the line, while Ashfield Road Club's Stuart Murfin took second.

And the supporting Regional C race also ended in a bunch sprint finish, and it was Karl Gray (VS Cycles, Brighouse) who took the win ahead of Manchester Wheelers' Edward Farnell.
