Report: South East Road Racing League R2

Event: 13th March 2011 | Report: Dave Hayward

South East Road Race League's 2nd race at Benenden Sandhurst had quickly sold out on RiderHQ by the beginning of March. A 60-strong field of 2/3/4 cat riders rolled out from the village of Rolverdon, Kent to commence their 102k race. Damp roads and gravel corners didn't cause too much upset for the riders. Dulwhich Paragon had the largest showing of riders from their club, had come with a plan to try and control the race in the hope of victory.

With the Dulwich riders there was a good showing of Bigfoot Cycles, and London Phoenix members preventing any long breakaways from getting too much of an advantage. Keeping quiet in the bunch, waiting and watching seeing the race unfold Robert MacCarthy had an opportunistic plan of his own. With in sight of the finish he made his move with Steve Salmon from Bigfoot Cycles on his wheel. Robert had the legs on him to powered up the hill to a solo Victory, followed by Steve Salmon, BigFoot Cycles, James Wallace London Phoenix finished 3rd.
