The associated development club were able to ride with the Elite team and sample some of the sponsored products on show. Team Manager James Smith says “this team is about being inclusive so the guys who are not sponsored can still ride for the team, join in on the presentation day and gain some great discounts on products. This is a new and hopefully sustainable way of producing a top level racing team”.
Ladies Team: L to R Sorrelle LeCornu, Ali Holland, Emm Whittlesea and Fleur Stoops
After a short photo opportunity, the riders and guests left for a short two hour ride around the surrounding Devon countryside. Martin Smith, Team rider says “I grew up just around the corner from here in Yelverton, so to now ride for an Elite cycling team in the same area is a bit of a turn up for the books but I am really proud to be putting on the stripes”.
The team kit is a striking white kit with black stripes – Judith Smith CEO www.rutrainingtoday.co.uk explained “I am really proud to see all of the riders in the kit after all of the hard work everyone has put into the team. I would like to thank the guys at Ride Plymouth Cycle fitting service who came up with the design for the kit and car. I am sure you won’t miss us at Lincoln or Rutland. I think it is also worth thanking Primal Europe who produced an excellent standard of kit for the British weather”.
At the team launch, after a short burn up and a few more photos, the team headed back to Meavy to enjoy an excellent lunch as provided by the guys at the Royal Oak Inn Meavy. A mouth-watering choice of Chicken curry, vegetable curry or chilli awaited around twenty five cyclists. Judith Smith: “I was amazed to see the spread that the Royal Oak Inn had put on, this kind of personal investment by the local community is heartwarming.”
After a hearty lunch Judith Smith was presented with flowers from the team for all of her hard work in putting together the day.
