Posted: 5th November 2010
Relive The Tour of Britain in the comfort of your own home
Tour of Britain pleased to launch first ever highlights DVD of 2010 event
Following the success of the 2010 Tour of Britain, SweetSpot Group, the organisers and promoters of the race, are pleased to be able to announce the launch of an official highlights DVD, allowing cycling fans to relive all the excitement of The Tour.
Containing 90-minutes of highlights from this year's race, from the action packed bunch sprints to the drama of Wales and the cobbled climb of Constitution Hill, which changed the shape of The Tour, viewers can enjoy reliving Michael Albasini's battle to take, and then hold onto the Yellow Jersey in the face of fierce opposition from the likes of Vacansoleil and Team Sky.
Previously unbroadcast bonus features on the disc include outtakes and a feature on The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride in the South West, while a second disc includes over 50-minutes of highlights from the 2009 Tour of Britain, won by Edvald Boasson Hagen.
"Every year we get people asking whether there would be a Tour of Britain highlights DVD available, but the number of those requests were particularly high in the build up to this year's Tour, showing the popularity of the race", said Commercial Manager Alastair Grant.
"Following the tremendous success of this year's Tour we are very pleased to be able to offer our fans the chance to purchase highlights of the race, which I'm sure will live long in the memory of all the spectators who came to the roadside and supported The Tour."
The DVDs, produced by Century Television, are currently available from Provision Clothing, Official Suppliers of Vitesse clothing to The Tour, via their website www.provisionclothing.com
Interest in the 2011 Tour of Britain is already high, with a number of ProTour, Pro-Continental and Continental level teams all getting in touch with the race organisation in recent weeks to express an interest in making The Tour of Britain a part of their programme for next season.
The 2011 Tour will take place from Sunday 11th September to Sunday 18th September, beginning in Scotland and finishing in London. Full details of the route and the locations of individual stages will be announced at the National launch in the Spring.
