Report: Pembrey Criterium (Event 5)

Story posted July 30, 2010; July 27 | West Wales | Category 2/3/4/W/J/V riders & organised by Forza cycles/Ibelectrical.com

With the sun shining and the highest entry to date at a Pembrey crit with 57 riders, this 20 lap race started with a bang. Non stop attacking from the riders within the first three laps resulted in six riders forging clear. Amongst them were James Lewis, Hefin Price, Matt Beckett, Jeremy Rees and Rowan Marshall.

The break worked well together to pull out a nifty looking lead with Beckett easily taking the first prime but the leaders could not be complacent as behind, the bunch were getting organised with Forza cycles/ibelectrical.com and Bynea CC driving the bunch.

With the lead coming down, the riders in the break were starting to lose their morale and began attacking each other which gifted the well organised bunch an easy capture. After a couple laps of stalemate, the usual suspects started to show their legs once again and it was Hefin Price forcing the pace. He was then joined by James Shaw (Team Zappi), Ben Simmons and David Bees.

This was to be the final selection and these riders rode away and with two laps to go the attacking resumed at the head of affairs and the break was reduced three riders from which David Bees led out the sprint and held on to win for a well deserved victory.
