The first race of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Summer Series of Handicap Road Races was held over 5 tough laps of the 6 mile Naseby-Cold Ashby-Thornby circuit. The scratch group of Mike Cowland, David Weir and Dave Palmer, all of www.cyclingbargains.co.uk, never overcame their 10 minute handicap leaving the top ten places to be fought over by the middlemarkers. The winner was BC Private Member Matthew Smith in 1.22.54, closely followed in second place by Alan West of 45 RC and Rob Jacks of Welland Valley CC all in the same time as the winner.
