Beyond Spring Circuit Races 3

Rain failed to spoil the third round of the Beyond Spring Circuit Races at the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit (West London) on April 3rd. In the 2/3/4 Regional A event, an initial attempt to form a winning break by Stephen Bradbury (AWCycles.co.uk) failed but with a quarter of the 54 kilometres under their wheels, Clive Nicholls (High Wycombe CC) broke away with Bradbury in the key move of the race.
After a few more laps, the pace proved too much for Bradbury who was paying for his earlier efforts and Nicholls put his head down to time trial away from the chasing peloton never to be seen again. A few attempts to split the bunch came to nothing and with Nicholls nearly half a lap up, three riders, Paul Crook (Beyond/Rapidracer), Jake Martin (Onelife Development Squad) and Bradbury again broke away from the chasing bunch. Yet again, Bradbury was unable to stay the pace and after a while dropped back.
Nicholls meanwhile was never caught and even had time to carry his bike across the line while Crook outsprinted Martin for second place. Jo Skelton (Brixton Cycles) lead in the bunch at 48 seconds.
