Report: Beyond Spring Circuit Series Round 2
The second of the Beyond Spring Circuit series was run in much better conditions than the opener - until the race was over, at which point the heavens opened!
The 4th cat race was a well-contested event ending in a bunch sprint taken by Ed Clemens (private member) after numerous attempts to break away by various riders failed. The Regional A event was taken by club rider Paul Crook after a four man break was almost caught on the line. The riders from Team Wyndymilla started the race by attempting to control the race from the beginning, this lasted a few laps, and this was followed by a lone attempt by David Baker (PSUK CRT) for about five laps when the bunch brought the race back together again.
Baker again broke away, this time with Luke Merrilees (Wyndymilla) and Gavin Atkins (Hemel Hempstead CC) for another few laps. Other attempts to split the field also failed. With five laps to go a small break with Scott Merrilees (Wyndymilla), Daniel Rudd (Arctic Premier RT) and Crook broke away, which all but got caught on the line. However, Rudd hung on for second, followed in by Gavin Atkins.
