Great Britain’s Lizzie Armitstead, Ben Swift, Ian Stannard and brothers Simon and Adam Yates are among a host of top talent attending the 2014 Dave Rayner Fund dinner, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in Leeds on 8 November.

The Fund was set up in 1994 in memory of road racing cyclist Dave Rayner, who raced for a number of professional teams throughout the 1980s and 1990s, reaching his peak with a stint with the Buckler team in the early nineties, under the tutelage of the legendary Jan Rass.

Rayner tragically died in 1994 and the Fund was set up in his memory to help finance cyclists, like himself, with aspirations to race abroad.

The Dave Rayner Fund’s first recipient was recent retiree, yellow jersey wearer and Commonwealth gold medallist David Millar, who will be in attendance in Leeds along with the Fund’s latest high-profile benefactor, Adam Yates, winner of the 2014 Tour of Turkey.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire and driving force behind the 2014 Grand Depart will also attend the event, which includes an auction of cycling memorabilia from some of the biggest names in the sport.

Well-known cycling commentator Anthony McCrossan will host the event and interview the some of the Fund’s most well-known benefactors from throughout its 20-year history.

Tickets are available for the dinner here with all proceeds going towards the fund, which so far as granted over £600,000 to help aspiring riders race abroad.
