Great Britain's Scott Davies lost out on the under-23 jersey but finished a superb 10th overall after a brave effort on the final stage of the 2015 Jayco Herald Sun Tour.
Davies led the under-23 classification heading into the 122.0-kilometre queen stage, finishing on the summit Arthur's Seat in Victoria.
The 19-year-old British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme athlete dug deep to finish eighth on the fourth and final stage, seven seconds back from winner Patrick Bevan.
But crucially Davies was five seconds behind Robert Power, the Australian leapfrogging the Welshman for the under-23 title.
Davies though, still ended the five-day race in the top ten of the general classification, a reward for an excellent effort from the British time trial champion and his Great Britain Cycling Team counterparts Josh Edmondson, Jake Kelly, Chris Lawless, Gabriel Cullaigh and Grant Ferguson.
Scot Ferguson, who swapped mountain bike cross-country for road, was an impressive 13th overall.
Orica-GreenEDGE's Cameron Mayer held on to his advantage to claim the general classification.
