Forest of Dean sportive raises entry numbers

Event: Forest of Dean Spring Classic Sportive, May 3rd 2009

Entry limit raised from 750 to 1000 due to increased demand.

Wheels in Wheels CC, organisers of five sportives in the UK and the Duva International in Majorca are pleased to announce extra places for their first UK sportive of 2009.

The Forest of Dean Spring Classic sportive is now established as one of the premier events on the UK sportive calendar. Now in its fourth year, the event starts and finishes in Monmouth and takes riders on an 85 mile ride through some of the best roads the area has to offer. From 3 mile climbs to 1 in 4 walls, a serious workout awaits and will test even the fittest of riders. The clover leaf design of the route means you are never more than 20 miles from the event village should your fitness let you down. The popular pasta party on Saturday night offers the chance to sign on early and is included in the entry fee. The clever design of the route also offers newcomers the opportunity to try a "Classic Sportive" without too much pressure.

As a result of the event's popularity, the demand for places has increased year on year to the point where the organisers have had to add extra places. "When we reached our initial target of 750 riders, the demand kept growing so we renegotiated with local authorities to add extra places" Says Graham Temple, Wheels in Wheels CC event manager. "We can now safely accommodate 1000 riders and have extra staff and facilities to help cope with the increase. You can enter on the line for a small surcharge, space permitting, but we do encourage you to enter beforehand to avoid disappointment".
