2009 will be the 14th year The Royal British Legion has put the ride on, and it goes from strength to strength. We cater for all standards of riders, with three speed groups, fast, medium or 'social'. The event is enormous fun, and is the only charity ride in which you arrive at the Arc de Triomphe under full police escort.

You'll set off early on Thursday morning from Greenwich Park with a motorcycle escort out of London. Then on through the tranquil Kent countryside and on to the coast.

Once in France you don't stop for anyone. Our team of outriders and support vehicles ensure that all traffic is stopped for you. You'll cycle through the beautiful sweeping countryside of the Somme on your way to the pretty town of Abbeville for a well-earned night's rest.

Day three sees stunning views and impressive architecture, and a chance to sample the local wine in the historic town of Beauvais. The final push to Paris on day four is possibly the most satisfying: as you cycle through the iconic Parisian landmarks, we defy you not to feel an overwhelming sense of excitement and fulfilment as you grab your first glimpse of the finish line - the Arc de Triomphe.

The route covers around 280 miles during the four days, and we can assure you there will be no mountains to climb, although a few of the hills maybe a challenge.

The cycling is only one aspect of this great ride. Pedal to Paris has long been a social event, a ride where you can meet like minded cyclists and make new friends. The ambience is superb, with a general party spirit enveloping all who take part.

The highlight of the trip is the arrival at the Arc de Triomphe in the heart of Paris. Those last moments as you arrive at the Arc with your very own police escort, replete with flashing lights and sirens and cheers from onlookers will make all thoughts of aches, pains and sore muscles disappear.

You'll feel elation, a genuine sense of achievement and we hope the satisfaction that your challenge will also benefit so many of our serving and ex-Service community who desperately need your ongoing support.

Come on, take the challenge, make a difference to those that need your help, sign up for Pedal to Paris 2009.
