A strong line-up will gather at Hetton-Lyons for round three of the 2016/17 British Cycling National Trophy Cyclo-cross Series this weekend.
Ones to watch
Elite and junior women
After her first win of the cyclo-cross season in Abergavenny, under-23 world champion Evie Richards (100% ME) will return to race in Hetton-Lyons, and will go head-to-head with leader in the overall standings, Hannah Payton (Team Kinesis UK).
Bethany Crumpton (Boot Out Breast Cancer CC) and Annabel Simpson (Hope Factory Racing) both sit on 64 points, just behind Payton and will be looking to maintain a podium position as the competition passes the halfway stage.
Two of the younger James sisters from the James cycling clan will be in action representing Abergavenny RC; Ffion James riding as an under-23, returning from riding at the European championships last week, and Megan James in the junior category.
Elite and under-23 men
Ian Field of Hargrove Cycles-Ridley RT currently leads elite standings but shares the same points score as Yorban Van Tilchelt (Marlux-Napoleon Games); expect these two riders to be battling to put some daylight between themselves and the rest of the field.
Senior Academy riders Frazer Clacherty and William Gascoyne will represent the 100% ME team in the under-23 race.
In the junior race, Tom Pidcock will take to the course in the starred jersey that denotes a European champion, after returning victorious from the 2016 championships in France last week.
